Barton becomes the second offensive player to be selected by Indy, after Ohio State wide receiver Parris Campbell was taken back in the second round. The lifetime Utah native, Barton measured in at a whopping 6-foot-7, 310 pounds with 34-inch arms. He was first team All-Pac-12 as a season, and spent two years (27 games) as the team’s starting left tackle. Barton was as reliable as they come, playing in all 53 games since his redshirt freshman year. He led the offensive line with 779 plays and had a team-high nine cuts in the trenches. At the combine Barton ran a 5.18 40-yard dash, got 25 reps on the bench press and had a vertical jump of 27 inches and a broad jump of 109.0.The Colts went heavy on the offensive line in the early parts of the 2018 NFL Draft, and had one of the top units in all of football by the end of the season. Barton and his athletic prowess will provide the chance to compete for a reserve role on the offensive line, but teams will be quick to take advantage of his shaky pass-protection skills.
