Toto Wolff has warned Ferraris raw performance is pushing Mercedes after Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel secured an impressive one-two in Practice Two. Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton dominated the first practice session at the Chinese GP and looked to be doing so again later on Friday, before the Scuderia showed their pace on the supersoft compound.Raikkonen clocked a 1:36.896, just over a tenth faster than his team-mate, which was quicker than any time set in all three practice sessions last season. While Ferrari have struggled with the reliability of the SF16-H during the early part of 2016 their race pace looks strong, all-but matching Mercedes in Australia and Bahrain on the longer stints. P2: Ferrari outpace Mercedes Kimi Raikkonen led a Ferrari one-two in Practice Two - report Still, Maurizio Arrivabene was keeping his feet on the ground, stating they are battling the greatest team of the last decade in the Silver Arrows. We had a good Friday, not a bad one, the Ferrari team principal said. Unfortunately youre not gaining position on the grid or points in the championship. Its a good start but the weekend is still long.I can say that the Mercedes team of this year is the strongest one we have seen in the last 10 years. To be able to win against them you have to work and to be better than them. Even so, we are doing our best to have a good result. David Croft and Paul Di Resta take you through all the headlines from Fridays Practice; and theres interviews with Massa, Vettel and Raikkonen Mercedes chief Wolff, sitting next to the Italian in the team principals press conference, laughed at the notion. Before answering the question Id like to give the flowers back, he said. They are pushing us very hard. You have seen today, its raw performance.Mercedes Paddy Lowe echoed Wolffs warning and is expecting a tight battle: Were very close with Ferrari on both single lap and long run pace across all three tyre compounds, so we look set for an exciting weekend.Raikkonen: Ferrari speed is thereFerrari have already fallen 50 points behind reigning champions Mercedes in the constructors standings after losing one car to reliability in each of the first two races. Raikkonen dropped out at the Australian GP after a turbo failure caused an airbox fire, while Vettel did not even take the start in Bahrain after his car started trailing smoke on the formation lap.But Wolff believes these failures simply come as a result of their giant stride forward in terms of competing with his team.We have seen that raw performance in the last couple of races, the Austrian added. They havent been able to pull it all together because they made another big step from 2015 to 2016, similar to the step of 2014 to 2015, in order to have the package to deliver and be reliable. That is obviously not an easy task. Whens the Chinese GP on Sky? All the broadcast times you need for this weekends exclusively live race Down to sheer performance they are really pushing us. That is good, that is what competition is about.Nico Rosberg, the quickest Mercedes driver on Friday, agreed the red threat was rising: It looks like we are quick here again - but in the afternoon we saw that Ferrari are also very quick, so we are definitely looking out for them and well have a bit homework to do tonight.Despite trailing his team-mate in both sessions, Hamilton wasnt too despondent and is predicting tyre wear to create a dramatic race on Sunday. Its not been a bad day. I didnt feel too comfortable with the car this morning but the team made some changes over lunch and it was much better in the second session, he said. The weather has been surprisingly warm but with a lot of wind, which made it quite difficult out there through the high-speed corners. Were seeing already that tyre degradation will be a big factor this weekend, which is pretty normal for this circuit but definitely something to watch out for on Sunday. As well as giving us an indication of their fine one-lap speed, Ferrari also seemed to be close to Mercedes when it came to longer race stints in practice. Raikkonen, however, said he wasnt comfortable on any tyre apart from the supersofts. The Finn said: It felt very slippery. With the supersoft it improved a bit, but nowhere near ideal.I only used the medium in the morning and it didnt feel very good. But the softs didnt feel very good. The supersoft was the best, but it is too early to say.Watch the Chinese GP weekend - LIVE ONLY on Sky Sports F1. The race starts at 7am on Sunday, with build-up underway from 5.30am. Now the Royals will take the field on Saturday with a World Series lead for the first time in team history when they play Game 4 of the Fall Classic against the Giants at AT&T Park. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Whatever problems the New Orleans Pelicans face, playing the Memphis Grizzlies seems to resolve them -- including overcoming an eight-game losing streak. Anthony Davis scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Pelicans won for only the second time in January, claiming a 95-92 victory over Memphis on Monday. The Pelicans have won all three games against the Grizzlies this season, the only three games New Orleans has won in the Southwest Division. Meanwhile, Memphis has lost all 10 games against teams in the division. "It feels good to get a win," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "Like I told our guys, you cant get wins like this if you dont have big-time character and tough guys in your locker room." Tyreke Evans added 15 points, 11 of them in the fourth quarter. He also had seven assists. Brian Roberts scored 13 points and Eric Gordon finished with 12 for the short-handed Pelicans. Alexis Ajinca scored 10 points, and Davis added four blocks and four steals to his stat line. "Our defence was horrible," said Memphis forward Zach Randolph, who led the Grizzlies with 23 points and a season-high 20 rebounds, equally split between offensive and defensive boards. Courtney Lee had 19 points and Marc Gasol finished with 14 points. Mike Conley had 13 for Memphis, which saw an end to its five-game winning streak. The Pelicans won minus three key players -- Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith, all out with injuries. The trio, plus reserve guard Anthony Morrow, who didnt make the trip because of illness, left New Orleans with 10 available players. "Everybody contributed all the way down to the 10th guy," Davis said. "Everybody is stepping up, and thats what we need while guys are down." New Orleans players pointed to controlling Randolph and Gasol as a key component against the Memphis, which lost on its annual game on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "We jusst played really good defence," Gordon said.dddddddddddd. "We tried to attack them on offence to make them help. Our bigs did a pretty good job. Its been a tough time these past few weeks." The Grizzlies got within 93-91 when Lee hit a bank shot with a minute left, but Davis made a 15-footer with 35.6 seconds remaining as the shot clock was expiring. Memphis struggled with turnovers, committing 18 to the Pelicans 10. New Orleans led by 10 points in the first half. Davis and Randolph both struggled in the first half before taking over the scoring for their teams in the third quarter. Davis was 4 of 6 in the period and 7 of 8 from the line for 15 points in the quarter. Randolph hit 7 of 9 shots for 17 points, helping the Grizzlies take a 69-68 lead heading into the fourth. "We came out and fought for the whole 48 (minutes)," Davis said. "We didnt fall back in that third quarter like we usually do. Weve got to continue to do that." New Orleans took the lead for good with nine unanswered points in the middle of the fourth, five of them coming from Evans. And unlike Davis assessment of the Pelicans play, Memphis coach Dave Joerger saw a more ho-hum approach from his players -- a troublesome trend hes noticed for a week even though the Grizzlies have escaped with late bursts in their last two wins over Milwaukee and Sacramento. "We walked around," Joerger said. "We are not going to play better until we play harder. We have to run harder. We have to screen harder, and we have to defend harder from the first minute of the game." NOTES: Memphis is 5-7 all-time in MLK games. ...
